
Suzanne Pleshette (January 31, 1937 until January 19th 2007) was an American theatre, film television, voice actress. 1 Pleshette began her professional career in the theater and then began to appear in films towards the end of the 1950s. She later was featured in films of note such as Rome Adventure (1962), Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), and Spirited Away (2001). Later, she was a part of various television productions, often in guest roles, and she played Emily Hartley on The Bob Newhart Show from 1972 until 1978, earning several Emmy Award nominations for her work. Pleshette was born on January 31, 1937, in the New York City neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights, to Geraldine (nee Kaplan)[1] and Eugene Pleshette. Her parents were Jewish, the children of immigrants from Russia and Austria-Hungary.Her mother was a dancer and artist who performed on stage under the name Geraldine Rivers. Her father was the stage manager for the Paramount Theater, Manhattan, and the Paramount Theater, Brooklyn.
